The DC Karneval Dancers were founded in 2007 to perform at Washington-area Fasching and Karneval (Mardi Gras) balls. Made up of dancers primarily from the Washington Saengerbund and the Viennese Ball Opening Cotillion trained by Herbert and Carol Traxler, the troupe performed at the Koelner Karneval at the German Embassy sponsored by ThingsToDoDC.com (2007, 2008, 2009) and for the Washington Saengerbund Faschingsball (2007, 2008). The dances for their first season (2007) included "Viva Colonia" and "Ich wuerd' meine Fehler ja eingesteh'n." For their second season (2008) the dances included "Sansi Bar," "Dat Es Ne Joode Lade He," and "Viva Colonia (Da Simmer Dabei)." For their third season (2009) the dances included "Pizza Wundaba" and "Viva Colonia (Da Simmer Dabei)." The DC Karneval Dancers may be contacted via email to Carol Traxler.
