Viennese Opera Ball in Washington. Held in 1997 and 1998, with an opening cotillion.

Folklore Society of Greater Washington. Dance nearly every day of the week. Hotline: 202-546-2228. If you like to dance, this is the organization to join! Among the dances listed in the FSGW Newsletter are several of special interest to Viennese waltz students. (A note to our Viennese waltz students: The waltz taught and generally danced at Glen Echo is not the Viennese waltz, but a country waltz, or turning waltz. You can dance the Viennese waltz to the music, as long as your partner will also dance the Viennese waltz.) The live music is excellent, the people are friendly, and the wooden dance floor is wonderful! Not air-conditioned or heated. Bring water to drink. Directions to the Spanish Ballroom.

DC Dancenet provides a calendar of dance events throughout the Washington area. Very large, well-organized web site with many categories of dance links. The is the web site to visit if you're interested in competitive (or non-competitive) ballroom dancing, or dance sport.

Recreation Council of your local County Department of Parks and Recreation provides dance clubs and dance lessons at low prices.
